Reason for 7: potentially life-saving advice for newborns and mothers.
Reason for -3: some advice is outdated or incorrect. Exercise caution.

Although Quackwatch has an entry on Adelle Davis, I have nothing but the greatest respect for this excellent human, who, despite her occasional shortcomings in her knowledge, wrote extremely useful books.

This particular book had a lot of good advice with respect to pregnancy, potential issues arising from poor nutrition for both the mother and the newborn, and the advice offered is still solid, several decades later.

Especially, as my wife was vomitting non-stop and the idiots at the hospital told her to book a bed at the hospital so they could feed her through the IV!

It was Adele’s book that suggested lack of vitamin B1 was the issue. We supplemented with high-dose B1 and the vomitting stopped immediately!

Of course, the next challenge was finding the right supplement. Research by me revealed I could trust the one offered by NOW FOODS. The results proved my initial hunch right.

Most of the advice in this book is correct and still solid. And where it’s not, there is no risk involved–but your case might vary, so exercise caution anyway. In our case, the hospital failed us, and we had nothing to lose by trying the B1 route.

All in all, an excellent book and quite highly recommended.
